The aim of this programme is to provide the horticulture sector with individuals who have attained the skills and knowledge to develop and manage sustainable crop production practices. It will enable graduates to manage production, to comply with production standards and regulatory requirements. The learners will be motivated to be involved in this expanding sector, with a view to contributing to the long-term benefit of communities and the environment.

· Site analysis,
· Soil management planning,
· Planning for future production, and
· Integrated pest management.
You will need weather protection gear, tools, and resources to study this programme.
This course can be undertaken either part-time or full-time, giving students the flexibility to manage their home and work commitments along with coursework. The part-time study is typically scheduled in the evenings and weekends

· NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident.
· 18 years of age or over.
· Completion of NZ Certificate in Horticulture (Level 3) or equivalent.
· All applicants will be interviewed to consider the application for the enrolment. Acceptance will be determined at the discretion of the interviewer.
Education:
This qualification may lead on may lead on to qualifications in agriculture or horticulture at Level 5 or above.
Employment:
Graduates of this qualification may be self-employed or employed as growers, farmers, land-based practitioners, environmental officers, compliance officers, farm effluent managers, or Department of Conservation workers.
