Mark Chavez

Group Chief Executive

Mark has 13+ years of academic leadership experience in the tertiary education sector and has worked as a lecturer, programme manager and director in a number of universities, polytechnics and community colleges, both in New Zealand and overseas.

He holds a Master of Educational Leadership (distinction) from Auckland University of Technology, a Master of Management and Bachelor of Science from University of the Philippines, and a Bachelor (Honours) degree in International Business Management from Bournemouth University in the UK.

Aziz Razzakov

Finance Manager

Aziz moved to New Zealand in 2012 and studied for a Bachelor of Business in Accounting at AUT before he started work in the education industry.

Elizabeth Smith

Quality Assurance Manager

Elizabeth has dedicated her career to education and pathwayed from Secondary School teaching and onto Tertiary Education with Skills Update more than 25 years ago.

Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Commerce from The University of Auckland along with Tertiary Teaching Qualifications from Manukau Institute of Technology, NCALE, ACAT, and TDipT.

She is very passionate in ensuring that all Stakeholders receive ‘quality’ in education, therefore, ensures that this is a ‘reality’ in our organisation, as she works with a team of like-minded educators.

Pania Te Aonui

Registry & Outcomes Manager

Pania has been employed by Skills Update for the past 20 years. During this time, she has risen through the ranks, starting as an Administrator then transitioning to a Campus Manager before being appointed to her current role.

Pania holds a Diploma in Career Guidance from Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology.

Stevan Ristic

Sales & Marketing Manager

Stevan is an experienced sales, people, and operations management professional with 8 years’ of sales and marketing experience within the equipment hire / commercial sector. Prior to working with Skills Update, Stevan worked as a Regional Sales Manager for a shipping container company.

Stevan holds a Bachelor and Postgraduate qualification in Business from Unitec, and a Certificate and Diploma in Arts and Design from Waiariki Institute of Technology.

Rachel Teesdale

Division Head, Accelerate Education and Training Solutions

Rachel originally trained as an Occupational Therapist specialising in community-based rehabilitation, before moving to the Cook Islands where she worked in the hospitality industry. This experience sparked a love of cooking, so for a period of time after returning to New Zealand she managed a catering business.

Rachel has worked for Skills Update for the past three and a half years, initially as an employment coach assisting sole parents into employment, and more recently as a programme manager.

Edwin Paul

CEO, Marsden technical institute

With over a decade’s experience in tertiary education management, Edwin is an alumnus of the Said Business School of Oxford University. A New Zealander of Indian origin, Edwin is an extensive traveller and a technophile.

Edwin is passionate about learning and “The Future of Work” and is constantly exploring innovative concepts to prepare learners for the ever changing employment scenario. As a change manager and strategist, his energy and enthusiasm is infectious from Classrooms to Boardrooms.

Joshua Levi

Papakura Campus Manager, Skills Update Training Institute

Having returned to New Zealand from playing rugby professionally in the ‘Top League’  in Japan, Josh pursued a Sports and Fitness qualification through the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand.

After graduation, his passion for empowering  the youth and being a positive role model was the direction he wanted to pursue. He was employed by Skills Update initially as a tutor and more recently as a Campus Manager
