This scholarship is available for learners who are not eligible for the Fees Free Scheme or any other scholarships.   • Purpose:

    1. The Jump Start Scholarship aims to provide financial support to students who are already studying or intend to study with SUTEG. The successful student for this scholarship will be paid the full cost of tuition fees including compulsory enrolment fees (if any). The student intends to avail a tuition fees scholarship from SUTEG to study the selected programme fees free.
  • Selection Criteria:

    2. Students must be enrolled or considering an enrolment into a Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) funded programme at SUTEG. The student must not be eligible for TEC administered Fees Free Scheme or Maori Pasifika Trades Training Initiative Scholarship. The student must be a New Zealand Citizen or holds or deemed to hold a New Zealand Resident Visa.
  • Scholarship Terms and Conditions:

    3. The student is aware that the scholarship does not cover any course related costs, travel, accommodation or any other costs incurred by the student during the period of study. 4. If any tuition fees are paid by SUTEG into a public trust account or similar on behalf of the student, the student agrees that those fees will be refunded to SUTEG if the student withdraws from the programme and is eligible for a fee refund. 5. The tuition fees scholarship is not redeemable for cash or any other form of substitution. 6. The student agrees that the scholarship is non transferrable to any other provider in case of a course closure or any other event.
  • Conditions attached to acceptance

    The student acknowledges and agrees that continuation is subject to Academic Merit (AM) and Attendance.
  • Academic monitoring and support:

    To satisfy AM, SUTEG will: 7. regularly monitor student’s academic progress and provide this information to SUTEG management; 8. provide the necessary instruction, services and facilities so that the student can complete the approved study programme within the minimum specified time; 9. provide appropriate academic support for the duration of student’s studies; and 10. provide a reasonable amount of tutorial assistance where needed to achieve satisfactory academic progress.
  • Attendance and Satisfactory progress:

    The student acknowledges and agrees: 11. to regularly attend classes (where applicable) and undertake enrolled study programme; to sit all exams and complete assessments that are compulsory course requirements; 12. to comply with the regulations of SUTEG and meet all academic requirements; and 13. to achieve satisfactory academic progress in accordance with the continuation criteria set by SUTEG or the student’s scholarship may be ended.
  • Withdrawal from Scholarship:

    The student acknowledges and agrees: 14. that they may elect to withdraw from the scholarship by notifying in writing to SUTEG. 15. that if they withdraw from the scholarship after the early withdrawal period SUTEG will end their scholarship and provisions of ending scholarship will apply.
  • Ending scholarship:

    The student acknowledges and agrees: 16. SUTEG will end their scholarship if the student fails to meet any requirements of this Scholarship Offer, (including any of these Conditions of Scholarship). 17. In the case of SUTEG ending student’s scholarship, the student will be required to refund SUTEG the total cost of scholarship, including GST if any. Any such refund will be a debt payable to SUTEG and payment will be enforceable under New Zealand law.
  • Debt to SUTEG:

    The student acknowledges and agrees: 18. that if they incur a debt to SUTEG, the amount of the debt will equal to the total cost of the scholarship; 19. that should the student incur a debt to SUTEG, Student undertakes to discharge fully that debt by repaying in full the total amount of the debt.
  • Variations:

    20. The parties may vary this agreement, provided that no variation shall be effective or binding on either party unless it is in writing and signed by both parties.
  • Entire agreement:

    21. 17. Each party acknowledges that this agreement contains the whole and entire agreement between the parties as to the subject matter of this agreement.
  • Validity:

    22. The validity, construction and performance of this agreement shall be governed by the laws of New Zealand and the student agrees that any dispute arising from it shall be litigated only in New Zealand. 23. The various provisions of this agreement are severable and if any provision is held to be invalid or unenforceable by any court of competent jurisdiction, then such invalidity or unenforceability shall not affect the remaining provisions of this agreement.
