Description
This programme is designed to give learners hospitality-related skills that will support their future employment opportunities in the food and beverage service sector.
The programme provides introductory skills in front of house, barista, basic kitchen, and barback, for the food and beverage industry. Upon completion of this programme the graduates can progress to level 3 to specialise in food preparation, food service, barista, bar, or function services.
Course Content
The programme has four modules covering the following:
· Health and Safety in a hospitality workplace,
· Food hygiene and safety,
· Preparing non-alcoholic beverages for service,
· Preparing expresso beverages for service,
· Introduction to alcoholic beverages,
· Introduction to cocktail making,
· Providing table service,
· Teamwork and problem-solving,
· Basic knife skills, and
· Preparing food items for counter service.

Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for the programme are as below. Talk to us if you are not sure whether you qualify. Our team will help you through this process.
· NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident.
· 18 years of age or over.
· Not hold NCEA level 2 or similar qualifications.
· Applicants need to comply with Ministry of Health requirements.
· Enrolment is also subject to an interview process.

Education:
This qualification can lead on to the New Zealand Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 3) with strands in Barista, Bar Services, Buffet Services, Cafe Services, Functions Services, Quick Service Restaurant Services, and Restaurant Services [Ref: 2104].
Employment:
Graduates can be employed or self-employed in roles such as kitchen hand, waiter, barista, catering assistant, receptionist, barback, or glassy.

What are the benefits
This programme is designed for youth & adults enabling them to achieve NZ Certificate Level 2 in a hospitality industry context.
The programme provides a lot of practical, hands-on learning, covering food safety, beverage making, customer service and cookery skills.
This is a full-time programme which generally runs Monday to Friday helping to prepare you for entering the workforce or further studies once you graduate.
Eligible youth learners will have access to additional support like travel allowances, safety gear and uniforms.
