Description
This Micro-credential is aimed to provide the learner with PHEV (pure Hybrid and plug-in hybrid) maintenance and service skills that will enhance their career pathway and employment opportunities for work, specifically in the automotive sector. The purpose of this Micro-credential is to provide skills and knowledge of health and safety requirements, servicing of batteries, and servicing requirements relating to the transmission, braking and air conditioning, for people who are in the automotive industry, particularly those working with PHEV vehicles maintenance and service. This Micro-credential provides knowledge and skills in response to the requirement specified in the Climate Change Response Act 2002 and its subsequent amendments. Graduates will be able to apply the skills and safety requirements associated with the maintenance and service of PHEV vehicles in New Zealand.
Course Content
The programme covers the following:
Module 1 – 5380101 – Health and safety requirements in PHEV Vehicles.
Module 2 – 5380102 – PHEV Vehicles Diagnostics Operations
Module 3 – 5380103 – Maintenance in PHEV Vehicles
Module 4 – 5380104 – Battery charge, storage, and maintenance processes of PHEV Vehicles
Module 5 – 5380105 – Transmission, regenerative braking, and cooling systems in PHEV Vehicles

Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for the programme are as below. Talk to us if you are not sure whether you qualify. Our team will help you through this process.
• Learners must be 18 years or older.
• Prospective learners will have either Level 3 in automotive engineering, parts and accessories, collision repair, and automotive refinishing or equivalent and/or
• Automotive experience as a mechanic of at least 2 years.
• Potential learners will undergo an interview to gauge their interest,
readiness, and potential to benefit from the Micro-credential.
Pathways
Education:
This Micro-credential can lead to Maintenance and Service of PHEV Vehicles (Micro-credential) (Level 4) (Ref 4685)
Employment:
Graduates may be employed in maintenance and service roles in the automotive industry, such as workshops, dealers, transport agencies, fleet maintenance officers, and government transport regulatory agencies, among others in the automotive industry.

Mangere Campus
Start Date: 24th of June 2024. Class Timings: 8.30am-3pm Monday to Wednesday. Part of class hours (practical hours).
Papakura Campus
Start Date: 26th of June 2024. Class Timings: 5.30pm-8:30pm Wednesday & Thursday, Sundays 9am-3pm. Part of class hours (practical hours).
