Description
Our Basic Food Hygiene certificate provides hospitality workers and business owners, working with food in a commercial environment, with basic knowledge of the fundamentals of food safety. You will learn about Council Food Control Plans, including how to operate the plan within your business, by practicing food safety measures that prevent cross contamination.
Course Content
The programme has four modules covering the following:
• Food safety
• Personal hygiene practices
• Food temperature guidelines
• Cleaning practices
• High risk foods
• Cross-contamination
• Illnesses caused by food poisoning
• Food Act 2014 and Food Control Plans

Pathways
Education:
This qualification can lead on to the New Zealand Certificate in Food and Beverage Service (Level 3) with strands in Barista, Bar Services, Buffet Services, Cafe Services, Functions Services, Quick Service Restaurant Services, and Restaurant Services [Ref: 2104].
Employment:
Graduates can be employed or self-employed in roles such as kitchen hand, waiter, barista, catering assistant, receptionist, barback, or glassy.
