The selection of security programmes cover the essential knowledge and skills required for people who are employed or are seeking employment in the security industry and other related sectors. The level 2 programme covers minimum requirements to enter the security industry as staff security personnel. 

The level 3 programme has multiple strands covering different specialist areas in security as below:

  • Site Security represents competence in maintaining security and safety at sites by controlling access of persons, vehicles, materials, and substances, and by patrolling to detect abnormal safety or security issues

 *Mobile Patrol Strand will result in a level 4 qualification.

Qualifications and Certifications

  • National Certificate in Security (level 2) (50 Credits)
  • National Certificate in Security with strands in Site Security (level 3) (70 credits)*

The National Certificate in Security (level 2) has unit standards covering the following:

  • First Aid
  • Interpersonal Communications
  • Occupational Health and Safety Practice
  • Security Staff Services
  • Workplace Fire and Emergency Response

The National Certificate in Security (level 3) has unit standards covering the following:

  • Protective Security
  • Terrorism Threats
  • Emergency Response
  • Violence Management
  • Security Staff Services
  • Conflict Management

Employment and Further Training

These programmes provide thorough grounding enabling progress to further qualifications in Security like:

  • National Certificate in Security (Senior Security Officer) (Level 4)
  • National Certificate in Security (Team Leader) (Level 4)

This programme allows graduates to gain employment in security sector like:

  • Security Guard
